Marketing Truth

Hi I'm Marco Brown from Dayton, Ohio. I will share with you some of my earlier experiences in life because I feel that those times have molded me into the man that I am today.

My paternal grandparents were very loving and caring and allowed me to spend plenty of time with them during my early childhood. From the age of about 12 years old I remember vividly that my grandmother had lost her sight while in her 30's due to glaucoma and the surgeries and treatment of the 1940's and 1950's didn't seem to help her condition much.

This lady would not let being legally blind, hold her back or stop her from doing what she intended to do. My part as a seeing eyed human (lol) was to be her eyes and help her with the cooking, shopping, cleaning and anything else that she was feisty enough to do.

I remember there were times when I would get a little irritated because I wanted to be outside with the other kids while they were playing, but the feeling of irritation soon passed away becaused I realized that I had a bigger responsibility and role to play.

My grandparents held down a part time cleaning job. This helped to put some bread on the table for the household.  They had two offices which had to be cleaned.

The one was a fairly large marketing office building which had to be cleaned on Wednesday and on Saturday. The other office building  was a prominent local general construction firm that needed to be cleaned on Saturday.

They received a combined total of $ 148.00 a month for their work and were also responsible for purchasing their own cleaning supplies.

I'll cut it a little short and just say that the time spent with my grandparents taught me some very valuable life skills.

Most of all I am thankful to them both for showing me how important that it was to be upright, respectable and honest in life. Those lessons learned are truly worth their weight in gold.
